What have you learned from your audience feedback?

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

I posted my rough cut video and finished video on youtube to gather audience feedback. I then could gather what people thought of them both publicly and could see the transformation from rough cut to final. As I had to change my original ideas last minute to then go and produce the music video on my own, there were generally comments saying how I could improve my video that I did agree with. I had comments from viewers such as 'The costumes that each character wore were plain.' This is down to timing issues and last minute preparation, that if I planned my time properly I could have thought a lot more about the costumes that my characters wore. Another comment that has been made throughout my video is that the story line was out of sync and sometimes confusing to follow. This again linked with the costumes I could have portrayed the characters and narrative easier and more understandable for the viewer to follow and connect with. However their was positive feedback also, with comments such as ‘the lip syncing was almost spot on throughout the song by both of the female characters’ this was important as if the lips weren’t in sync then the flow of the song would be dropped and not look professional. I also had comments that ‘it was good that you used different scenery throughout your video’. As I started filming in a house and then brought the mood to the beach, I hoped that it would let the narrative flow better and people would have an idea of the story of the female running away from being abused by the male characters, although some viewers didn’t understand this and as a result got lost in the style of the song and mood I was trying to create. Positive feedback also came from the editing part of my video. ‘Fast cuts and beats to the music linked with the cuts to your video’. This was a positive comment as I found the editing of my video the hardest part of the project and tried to cut each change in pace in the song to what was happening in my video, also trying to keep the narrative alive. I think I did this well as I chose the song that was a remix to the original song, this could have gone badly but from my audience feedback I feel although I could have done better on some parts of the video. The transformation from the rough cut to the final video was also commented on as some said 'The final version was a lot smoother and cut out the bits that weren't necessarily needed'. This is a positive comment as you can see the progress that I had made from rough to final cut, as I added the black and white effect to make sure the viewer could make out it was a flash back in the characters life of what had happened and why the females were running away. I think in general the feedback was promising and productive.

I have also added a pie chart to show some questions that I asked the people who viewed my final video.
